Ferrum College Athletics issued the following announcement on Jan. 7
Ferrum College's men's wrestling team dropped a pair of dual meets in day one action at the 2022 Budd Whitehill National Duals, hosted Friday and Saturday, January 7-8, at Lycoming College's Lamade Gym.
The Panthers opened the day with a 27-18 loss to York College of Pennsylvania, then suffered a 45-6 setback to Ohio Northern University.

THE BASICS
In Ferrum's first match of the day, the Panthers won five of the seven matches contested, but had to forfeit three weight classes and 18 points.
JD McMillin started things off with an 11-8 decision at 125 pounds, Levi Englman followed with a 4-1 victory at 141, and Christian Hite pulled out a 5-2 win at 157. Sam Slate won by fall at 184, posting the pin at 1:57 of the first period, and George Mitchell closed out the dual with a 9-3 win at 285.
McMillin and Slate both made it two in a row with wins over Ohio Northern in the second dual meet of the day. McMillin eked out an 11-9 win, while Slate won 7-5. Slate ran his individual record to 17-8 with a team-high seven pins. The Polar Bears took advantage of the 18 points surrendered by Ferrum, and went on to win five of the seven contested matches.
