Town of Blacksburg issued the following announcement on Sept. 16
Beginning Monday, September 20 at 9:30am, a lane closure, with flagger support, will be implemented on the 800 – 900 blocks of Airport Road. The site contractor for the Berry Ridge Subdivision development will be working to extend a Storm Sewer system along and crossing Airport Road to serve the proposed subdivision.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane with a closure of the southbound lane for the beginning portion of work. As the storm network is extended the lane closure will move to the northbound lane as the road crossing is completed.
Flaggers will be positioned on each end of the closure and at the intersections of Fairview Avenue and Eastview Terrace as required by the closure area. All adjacent driveways and access points will be maintained.
Motorists will experience minor delays of no more than 15 minutes and should seek an alternate route if possible. Pedestrian access along the adjacent sidewalk should remain during the duration of the lane closure. The lane closure will be in place daily Monday - Friday of each week. The lane closure will begin at 9:30am be removed by 3:30pm to avoid significant impacts to school traffic at Margaret Beeks Elementary School. The work is scheduled to be completed by 3pm on Friday, October 8, weather permitting.
