The George Mason University men's tennis team continues its fall slate this Friday through Sunday at the River City Tennis Open in Richmond.
The Patriots will compete against opponents from host Richmond, as well as College of Charleston, Navy, James Madison, Longwood, Hampton, Delaware, Bucknell, VCU, Virginia, William & Mary, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, Campbell and Georgetown.
Mason's full team will open play Friday, with tournament singles and doubles competition against opponents from Longwood.
The Patriots' full team last competed at the Joe Hunt Invite Sept. 16-18 in Annapolis. Mason's nine student-athletes notched a stellar 20-7 combined singles record on the weekend and also went 9-5 in doubles.
Freshmen Monil Lotlikar and Alvaro Pedraza each won their singles flights with perfect 3-0 marks to pace the Patriots. In their playoff matches of their individual flights, Lotlikar dispatched of Saint Joseph's Inigo Diaz in straight sets (6-3, 6-3), while Pedraza took down Christian Pumpelly of Navy (7-5, 6-0).
Lotlikar is coming off an outstanding trip to the ITA All-American Championships last weekend in Tulsa, where he became the first ever Patriot to win two matches at the exclusive event. In the qualifying Round of 128, Lotlikar defeated Luciano Tacchi from Wake Forest, a perennially top-10 program in the country.
After the River City Open, Mason will head back to Annapolis for the Navy Blue Invite Oct. 14-16.
