Carmen Weiler Sastre earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200 freestyle with an 11th-place finish (1:42.91) as the Virginia Tech Hokies women’s swimming and diving team concluded competition at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta on March 21.

The recognition for Weiler Sastre highlights a strong showing by the Hokies, who achieved top-25 finishes in every event they entered during the meet. The team’s performance demonstrates consistent competitiveness at the national level.

Weiler Sastre qualified for three individual events, finishing 18th in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:52.06 and placing 25th overall in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.58 seconds. In relay events, she joined Emily Claesson, Fanni Gyurinovics, and Eliza Tan to secure an 18th-place finish in the 200 free relay, setting a new program ninth-best time of 1:28.90. The quartet of Weiler Sastre, Claesson, Chiara Klein, and Gyurinovics also placed 18th in the 800 free relay (7:04.79), while Weiler Sastre, Claesson, Gyurinovics, and Tan finished 18th in the 400 free relay (3:14.12).

Overall, the Hokie women finished in 37th place at the championships and accumulated six points over the course of the week.

Looking ahead, Virginia Tech will compete next at the Men’s NCAA Championships beginning March 25 at Georgia Tech.
