Virginia Tech track and field athletes achieve top finishes at Raleigh and FSU Relays

The Virginia Tech track and field team achieved notable results on March 26, with athletes reaching new personal bests and securing podium placements at two major events. The Hokies competed in the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina and the Terry Long Florida State Relays in Florida.

Nicholas Kipchirchir finished second in the 10,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 28:26.94. Linus Chepkochei also set a personal record of 29:26.87, earning him ninth place on Virginia Tech’s all-time top-10 list for that event. Both runners placed among the top thirty out of ninety-five competitors.

At the Terry Long Florida State Relays, Kaitlyn Cook won the women’s long jump with a personal best of 6.05 meters (19 feet, 10.25 inches), moving her to fifth place on Virginia Tech’s all-time outdoor list for that discipline.

Other results included Lilly Ver Beek finishing fourth in the women’s long jump with a mark of 5.62 meters (18 feet, 5.25 inches). In men’s events at Florida State, Reese Rizzo placed fourth in high jump by clearing 1.90 meters (6 feet, 2.75 inches), while Stuart Pirtle took fifth place in long jump with a leap of 6.94 meters (22 feet, 9.25 inches).

The multis squad from Virginia Tech is scheduled to finish competition at the Terry Long Florida State Relays on Friday starting at one o’clock p.m.
