Virginia Tech will face North Carolina in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Men’s Tennis Championships, according to an April 13 announcement. The match is scheduled for April 15 at 12:30 p.m. at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.

The matchup brings together fourteenth-seeded Virginia Tech, which holds a season record of 6-15 overall and 3-10 in conference play, against eleventh-seeded North Carolina, which has a record of 13-10 overall and 6-7 in the ACC. The tournament runs from April 14 through April 19.

The two teams have already met twice this season. In their first encounter during ITA Kickoff Weekend, North Carolina won with a score of 4-0. However, Virginia Tech reversed the outcome in their second meeting on March 13 at home, winning by a score of 4-2.

This season, Virginia Tech has secured three wins within conference play—two coming against ranked opponents. Their first victory over a ranked team was against then-No.65 North Carolina. Later in the season, they defeated then-No.17 Notre Dame; Notre Dame enters the tournament as the third seed.

Virginia Tech concluded its regular season with a loss to No.3-ranked Virginia on April 9 at home. As of this release date, Virginia Tech is unranked while North Carolina holds the No.42 national ranking.

If victorious against North Carolina, Virginia Tech will advance to face sixth-seeded Clemson on Thursday, April 16 at 12:30 p.m.
