Virginia Tech announced on May 10 that its softball team has advanced to the NCAA Division I Softball Championship for the seventh consecutive season. The Hokies, with a record of 46-10 and an Atlantic Coast Conference mark of 18-6, are seeded No. 2 in the Baton Rouge Regional hosted by Louisiana State University.

The team will open play against South Alabama on Friday, May 15 at 4 p.m., with coverage available on ESPN+. Other teams competing in the regional include LSU as the top seed and Akron as the fourth seed.

This marks Virginia Tech’s seventh straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament under head coach Pete D’Amour. The program has achieved four seasons with at least forty wins over the past five years, including a school-best forty-four regular season victories since 2019. In first-round NCAA Regional matchups, Virginia Tech holds an all-time record of twenty-six wins and twenty-four losses, including fourteen wins and nine losses under D’Amour.

The Baton Rouge Regional is structured as a double-elimination event concluding Sunday, May 17. The winner will advance to face the champion from the Tuscaloosa Regional during Super Regionals scheduled for May 22-24. Success there would send a team to compete in Oklahoma City at the Women’s College World Series from May 28 through June 5.

Virginia Tech recently reached its first ACC Championship game since 2012 after defeating Virginia and twelfth-ranked Duke. Bree Carrico was named ACC Freshman of the Year among eight Hokies earning All-ACC honors this season.
