Virginia Tech finishes 11th at Linger Longer Invitational in Georgia

Virginia Tech concluded play at the Linger Longer Invitational on March 22, finishing in 11th place with a team score of 872 (280-303-289) at The Great Waters at Lake Oconee Course in Eatonton, Georgia.

The tournament saw the Hokies end the weekend at eight-over par. Gareth Steyn led Virginia Tech individually, tying for 34th place with a one-over par performance (70-74-73). Ben Baker followed closely behind, tying for 41st after shooting three-over par (70-77-72).

Georgia, ranked No. 35 nationally, secured the team title by a wide margin. The Bulldogs finished at 48-under par for the event, helped by a strong opening round and consistent play throughout (267-278-271). Carter Loflin was Georgia’s top performer, finishing at 18-under par with rounds of 67, 67, and 64.

The Hokies are scheduled to compete next at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational in Augusta, Georgia on April 4.

The results from this invitational provide an opportunity for Virginia Tech to assess its performance as it prepares for upcoming tournaments.
