Virginia Tech defeated Boston College 17-3 on March 29, sweeping the doubleheader against the Eagles in Brighton, Massachusetts.
The victory extends Virginia Tech’s win streak to nine games and marks consecutive sweeps of Atlantic Coast Conference opponents. The Hokies’ offense produced its highest run total since scoring 21 runs at Pittsburgh on April 18, 2025.
Virginia Tech took an early lead with a two-run home run by Nora Abromavage in the first inning. The team added twelve runs in the second inning, tying a program record for most runs scored in a single inning. Key contributions included a two-RBI double from Rachel Castine and back-to-back home runs by Jordan Lynch and Zoe Yaeger. Lynch finished with her eleventh home run of the season and tied her career-high with five RBIs.
The Hokies continued their offensive performance with additional runs in the third inning, including an RBI from pinch-hitter Haley Luginbill. Boston College responded with three runs but could not close the gap as Virginia Tech extended its lead further through hits by Lynch and Sara McNelly.
Nine different players recorded hits for Virginia Tech during the game. The team achieved several milestones: recording double-digit hits for the twenty-third time this season, scoring ten or more runs for the fourteenth time this year, and earning their fourteenth run-rule win of the season. Emma Mazzarone reached her one hundredth strikeout of the year while Addyson Fisher earned her third pitching win.
Looking ahead, No. 11/12 Virginia Tech (31-4 overall; 7-2 ACC) will return home to host Clemson (23-12 overall; 6-5 ACC) from April 2 to April 4 at Tech Softball Park.
