There were 403 Black students enrolled in Montgomery County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 8.4% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Montgomery County Public Schools District welcomed 9,591 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 4.2% of the student body to be the third least represented ethnicity in the school.

Montgomery County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Montgomery County and has a main office in Christiansburg.

Among the 20 schools in Montgomery County Public Schools District, Christiansburg High School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
