Floyd County has something for everyone! The Floyd Center for the Arts is the perfect place for all art lovers. The center places emphasis on equity in the art community by providing a safe and respectful place for all to engage in art. All materials are provided so that everyone can express their creativity.
The main house of the art center has its own gallery, gift shop featuring works by local artists, and medium-specific rooms. If you have ever wanted to try polymer-clay making or glass art, soldering, or grinding, try a class! Groups can even rent out your own studio and invite all your friends for a fun time in Floyd. Don’t worry if you have never tried a medium, they provide instructors so that you can create anything you imagine!
If you’re looking for something a little more fiery, take a walk down to the blacksmithing shop. Their instructors can help you craft while ensuring your safety. They can help you create anything from small wall hooks to larger projects. If fire isn’t your thing, try a spin in the pottery classroom. The pottery house has almost every type of tool so that you can spin, sculpt, and print! Make anything you can dream of with their wide selection of tools and glazes. Looking for something to entertain your children? Check out our after-school arts program! Some of our classes include bubble art, collages from upcycled materials, and alcohol ink tiles. We also host concerts and other events so you can have fun with the whole family!
