Construction of Creed Fields Park in Eastern Montgomery County is complete. On Saturday, April 30, 2022, an Opening Day ceremony will be held at Creed Fields Park in Elliston. Festivities will begin at 9 a.m., with a welcome followed by a player parade and a performance of the National Anthem by the Eastern Montgomery Elementary School Choir. The first pitch will be made by Jaxson Creed Bradley, the great-grandson of Gary Creed. Baseball, softball and t-ball games begin at 10 a.m.
Concessions will be provided by the Eastern Montgomery High School Athletic Boosters and include grilled burgers and dogs, chips, cold drinks, fresh popcorn, and candy. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.
Special appearances will be made by Mugsy from the Salem Red Sox and Slider of the Pulaski River Turtles.
The park, which includes four fields for football, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, softball, coach pitch and t-ball; bathrooms; a playground; a shelter; and a walking path, was named in honor of the late Board of Supervisor member Gary Creed who represented Eastern Montgomery from 2002-2017. Construction began in 2019 and $2.7 million have been appropriated for the project to date.
