At their April 5, 2022 meeting, the Amherst County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution recognizing April 2022 as National County Government Month (NCGM). The theme for this year’s celebration of NCGM is “Counties THRIVE.” Throughout April, Amherst County will use social media to highlight how different county departments help improve people’s lives every day
Since 1991 the National Association of Counties (NACo) has encouraged counties across the country to raise public awareness and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of counties. This year they will continue their “I Love My County Because” art contest. This is an opportunity for children and young adults ages 18 and under to create artwork for NACo’s 2023 “Counties Matter” calendar.
