The George Mason University men's tennis team began a two-day stretch of home matches with a 4-3 triumph over Coppin State Tuesday afternoon at the Mason Tennis Courts.
Mason (5-3) won the doubles point and received a clinching victory from freshman Dustin Ha at No. 4 singles to take the win.
In doubles, the tandem of juniors Rithik Sardana and Momin Khan upended the Eagles' Markovic/Medesan combo, 6-3, at No. 1. Then at No. 2, seniors Rishab Sardana and Erick Rivas teamed up to pick up a 6-4 win and clinch the doubles point.
With Mason resting some of its regulars with a Wednesday match also looming, Coppin State claimed wins at No. 1-3 singles. The Patriots won by default at No. 5 and No. 6, leaving the clinching point up to Ha. He won his first set easily, 6-2, then won 6-3 in the second to send Mason home with a victory.
The Patriots are back at it Wednesday at the Mason Tennis Courts with a 3 p.m. contest vs. Mt. St. Mary's.
