Monthgomery County issued the following announcement on July 16
In addition to his duties as Montgomery County Administrator, Craig Meadows, has been elected to lead the Virginia Local Government Management Association (VLGMA). He was elected by the membership during its annual conference in Virginia Beach on June 18; his tenure as president began on July 1 and runs through June 30, 2022.
Meadows, a member of the Association since 2009, has previously served in various officer roles in the Association, including most recently as President-Elect. Before becoming an officer, he served as a member of the Association's Executive Committee. His service to VLGMA also includes co-chairing the Association’s winter conference in 2013; chairing the Professional Development Committee in 2017-2018; and co-chairing the Strategic Planning Committee during this past year (2020-2021).
"For over a decade I have been involved with VLGMA, and I value the service that it provides to the members of our organization. It has been a great experience and wonderful opportunity to serve and interact with colleagues throughout the state, building regional partnerships and relationships along the way. The knowledge base and resources made available to VLGMA members is invaluable," said Meadows. "I'm honored my colleagues throughout Virginia elected me to serve as their leader."
Serving with Meadows as an officer of the Association are Timothy Fitzgerald, Augusta County Administrator (President-Elect); William Patrick "Pat" Pate, Manassas City Manager (First Vice President); Steven Rosenberg, Staunton City Manager (Second Vice President); Deborah Kendall, Gordonsville Town Manager (Third Vice President); and Sara Carter, Amherst Town Manager (Secretary). Cindy Mester, Falls Church Deputy City Manager, is the Immediate Past President.
VLGMA is a statewide association of local government management professionals who serve Virginia’s counties, cities, and towns. It is a state affiliate of the International City-County Management Association (ICMA) and is an affiliate organization of the Virginia Municipal League. With 355 members statewide, VLGMA offers professional development events, information resources, and networking opportunities to its members.
