Radford women’s golf finishes seventh at More Than Golf Invite

The Radford women’s golf team finished seventh at the More Than Golf Invite in Aiken, South Carolina. The tournament featured 12 teams, including several mid-major championship programs from 2025.

Radford began the event with a strong first round, ranking fourth overall. Macy Johnson led the team on day one with a score of one-over par, recording two birdies and an eagle. McKenzie Weddle and Caroline Gilreath also started well, each finishing at two-over par. Gilreath added an eagle on the first hole.

On Monday, Weddle led Radford with a four-over round that included four birdies, moving her into the top spot for the team. Gilreath followed closely behind. However, after a challenging day, Radford dropped to seventh place in the standings.

In the final round, Gilreath posted her best score of the tournament at one-over par with three birdies. Weddle remained consistent and finished as Radford’s top individual performer. Johnson improved her standing by climbing four spots in the individual rankings during the last day of play. The team maintained its seventh-place position out of 12 teams.

Final scores for Radford were 302-326-311 for a total of 939 (+63). Individually, Weddle tied for 11th with rounds of 75-77-77 (229), Gilreath tied for 14th at 75-81-74 (230), Johnson tied for 46th at 74-90-77 (241), Grace Addison finished tied for 51st at 78-82-83 (243), and Shea Smith placed 57th at 81-86-85 (252).

The event was held at Old Barnwell Golf Club, which is a par-73 course measuring 6,265 yards. Teams participating included Alabama State, Augusta, Columbia, Denver, FDU, Illinois State, Morehead State, Oakland, Radford, Richmond, Southern Miss and Tulsa.

Radford will compete next at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate on March 23rd and March 24th.
