The Radford Men’s Golf team finished tied for fourth place at the Southern Intercollegiate on March 17, marking their highest placement of the spring season. The tournament took place at Athens Country Club and featured a field of 15 teams and 83 golfers.

This result is significant for Radford as it demonstrates strong performances from both experienced players and newcomers. Louie Stott led the Highlanders, finishing 13th overall after an impressive first round that included four birdies on his opening nine holes. Stott started on the back nine due to a shotgun start caused by weather concerns.

CJ Peterson followed closely behind, placing 16th with a score of +7. Peterson shot even par on the front nine in the first round and recorded three birdies during the tournament. The release noted that “Peterson continues to build on an impressive freshman campaign, emerging as a consistent bright spot for the team.” Kieran McCarthy secured 21st place, highlighted by an eagle on a par-five hole and two birdies across both rounds.

Will Giaquinto placed 40th with four birdies over two rounds, while Tate Corbett rounded out Radford’s scorers in 56th place with one birdie. As a team, Radford posted scores of 373 and 397 for a total of 754 (+34).

The event included teams such as Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Binghamton, Charleston Southern, Georgia (host), Mercer, North Carolina A&T, Tennessee State, UMES, West Georgia, Western Carolina and others.

Looking ahead, Radford will have a week off before traveling to Snow Hill, South Carolina to compete at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate starting March 27.
