Radford University men’s basketball players Dennis Parker Jr., Del Jones, Frederik Erichsen, and Brennan Rigsby Jr. have received end-of-season honors from the Big South Conference, according to an announcement made Tuesday.
Dennis Parker Jr. was named to the All-Big South second team after a season in which he averaged 18.6 points per game. He is one of only two players in the conference averaging more than 18 points and six rebounds per game this season. Parker Jr.’s total of 576 points ranks sixth for a single season in Radford’s history. His performance included a record-setting 53-point game against Coppin State, which stands as both a Radford and Big South record as well as the highest single-game point total in NCAA Division I this season. He also earned recognition as Big South Player of the Week and USBWA National Player of the Week during the year.
Del Jones also earned second-team all-conference honors after leading Radford’s offense with averages of 17.1 points and 3.5 assists per game while playing the most minutes on the team. He was among just six players in the conference with at least 100 assists this season and ranked fourth in scoring against conference opponents with an average of 19.4 points per game. Jones received one Big South Player of the Week award and recorded seven consecutive games with at least 20 points during league play. His free throw shooting ranked among the top 100 nationally, including several perfect performances from the line.
Freshman Frederik Erichsen was selected for the all-freshman team following his debut season, during which he contributed an average of 5.8 points per game on nearly 49% shooting from the field and over 74% from the free throw line. Erichsen scored double figures four times and ranked among freshman leaders in several categories: third in scoring, second in shooting percentage, fourth in rebounds, and sixth in minutes played within the conference’s freshman class. He twice earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors.
Brennan Rigsby Jr., recognized for his academic achievements, was named to the all-academic team after completing his collegiate career with a GPA of 3.32 while majoring in interdisciplinary studies. On court, Rigsby Jr. served as a reliable player off Radford’s bench before moving into a starting role late in the season where he reached double-digit scoring figures in each start.
Radford is set to compete next at the Big South Tournament, opening quarterfinal play Friday, March 6th against Presbyterian at Johnson City, Tennessee; tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m., with coverage available on ESPN+.
