The Radford Highlanders women’s basketball team ended its postseason run on March 23 after losing to Arkansas State, 83-52, in the second round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament at First National Bank Arena.

This game marked the end of Radford’s first postseason appearance since 2019. The team played a record-setting 36 games this season and achieved 23 wins, tying for fifth-most in program history and marking their highest win total since the 2018-19 season.

Joi Williams led Radford with 18 points and tied the program’s single-season record for three-pointers made by hitting her 95th shot from beyond the arc, matching Ayana Avery’s mark from the 2013-14 season. Georgia Simonsen contributed key baskets early in both halves as Radford tried to keep pace with Arkansas State. Ellie Taylor also helped narrow the gap during a strong third-quarter run that brought Radford within eleven points before Arkansas State pulled away again.

Arkansas State started strong with an early lead and maintained control throughout much of the game. The Red Wolves capitalized on several three-point shots in the second quarter and finished with a decisive fourth-quarter run to secure their victory over Radford.

The Highlanders’ social media accounts encouraged fans to follow along for more updates about next season.
