The Radford men’s basketball team was eliminated from the Big South Conference tournament after a 91-85 overtime loss to sixth-seeded Presbyterian in Johnson City, Tennessee. The game saw strong performances from Jaylon Johnson, Del Jones, and Lukas Walls.

Jaylon Johnson, returning to form after limited play in recent weeks, recorded his third game this season with over 20 points. Two of those games were against Presbyterian. Del Jones led the team with 22 points and contributed six assists. Lukas Walls added 18 points for the Highlanders.

During overtime, Presbyterian converted four out of five shot attempts while Radford managed only two of nine. Radford struggled with shooting throughout the game, finishing at 24 percent from three-point range and 61 percent from the free throw line. However, they outperformed Presbyterian in points off turnovers (20-10) and second chance points (21-12).

Both teams started slowly after a delayed tipoff due to an earlier quarterfinal running late. Presbyterian scored just two points in the first nine minutes as Radford built an early lead through contributions from Walls and Johnson. By halftime, Radford held a 36-28 advantage following a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Jones.

Radford maintained its momentum into the second half but faced repeated challenges as Presbyterian narrowed the gap several times. The teams were tied at 63 near the end of regulation before another tie at 77 after a long-range shot by Presbyterian sent the game into overtime.

In overtime, Radford’s offense stalled while Presbyterian secured key baskets inside to claim victory and advance in the tournament.

“After an exhilarating end, Radford saw their tournament run come to a close in the quarterfinals with the 91-85 final,” according to the program statement.
