Nicholas Kipchirchir has been named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Men’s Outdoor Track Co-Athlete of the Week, according to a March 31 announcement from the league.

The recognition follows Kipchirchir’s strong performance at the Raleigh Relays on March 26, where he finished second in the 10,000 meters with a time of 28:26.94. This result currently ranks him No. 2 nationally and on the Division I East qualifying list, while also leading all ACC competitors in the event.

Earlier in his season, Kipchirchir made his indoor collegiate debut in the 5,000 meters at the BU Season Opener and posted a time of 13:52.85. This met ACC qualifying standards and placed him fourth on Virginia Tech’s indoor all-time top-10 list for that distance.

He continued his momentum by winning the 5,000 meters at the ASICS Sound Running Invite with a personal-best time of 13:45.08—moving up to third on Virginia Tech’s all-time list for that event. At this year’s ACC Indoor Championships, Kipchirchir contributed two points toward Virginia Tech’s fourth-place team finish by placing seventh in the same event with a time of 13:52.41.

In cross country during fall competition, Kipchirchir was second among Hokies runners at last year’s ACC Cross Country Championships and achieved several other notable finishes including earning NCAA Southeast All-Region honors for finishing seventeenth and receiving his first All-ACC accolade after placing twentieth overall at an earlier meet.
