Virginia Tech’s track and field athletes set new milestones on April 11 at the Spec Towns Invite in Athens, Georgia, with three competitors breaking into the school’s all-time top ten lists for the 400-meter event.
The achievements highlight a strong showing by both men’s and women’s squads. Nabil Tezkratt won the men’s 400 meters with a time of 46.06 seconds, earning him sixth place on Virginia Tech’s outdoor all-time list. Elijah Mosley finished second in the same race with a personal best of 46.18 seconds, moving from eighth to seventh in program history.
Freshman Zoey McFadyen also made her mark by finishing eleventh in the women’s 400 meters with a personal-best time of 54.32 seconds, placing her ninth all-time for Virginia Tech in that event.
The men’s relay team—composed of Calvin Meyer, Tezkratt, Mosley, and Joseph Rozynski—finished second in their debut performance with a time of 40.52 seconds in the 4×100 meter relay.
At another meet—the Oklahoma Throws Series World Invite—Katrin Brzyszkowska improved her season-best shot put distance to 16.84 meters (55 feet, three inches), which would have ranked her sixth among professional competitors at that event.
Looking ahead, Virginia Tech will complete its participation at the Oklahoma Throws Series World Invite before traveling up Interstate-81 on April 17 for the Virginia Challenge.
