College Sports Communicators announced on Mar. 24 that four Radford University women’s basketball players—Kirah Dandridge, Cate Carlson, Anaiah Jenkins, and Angelina Nice—have been named to the Academic All-District team for their achievements both academically and athletically.

The recognition highlights the importance of balancing sports and education at the collegiate level. Only about three percent of all Division I student-athletes are eligible for this award, which requires at least sophomore standing, participation in a majority of games or starts, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.

Dandridge is a senior who transferred from St. Bonaventure before her junior year. She has played in every game this season and started most of them, contributing defensively with 58 steals while averaging 4.1 points per game. Dandridge holds a 3.52 GPA as a Sport Management major and plans to pursue sports photography after graduation.

Carlson is a junior Marketing major with a minor in Sport Management from Virginia Beach who maintains a 3.54 GPA. She has played every game this season and averages the second-most minutes on the team while scoring an average of 9.3 points per game. Her recent performance included scoring 20 points against Morehead State to help Radford advance in the WNIT tournament.

Jenkins is also a junior who transferred from Towson University and studies Communication with a minor in Photography, holding a GPA of 3.61. Coming off the bench this season, she has recorded the second-most rebounds on the team (159) while averaging 5.8 points per game.

Nice is a sophomore Marketing major with an impressive GPA of 3.96 who has played every game this season as well as earning recognition on the Big South All-Academic Team earlier in the year. She averages 7.7 points per game, ranks third on her team for rebounding, fourth for scoring overall, and has made double figures eleven times during the season.

The awards reflect continued efforts by student-athletes to excel both academically and athletically at Radford University.
