On Saturday, April 26, former Floyd County High School standout Olivia Yates’ current college team, the Emory & Henry Wasps, lost 5-1 in their NCAA Division III softball game against the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears.
The game took place at McCrorie Family Stadium. This was their third matchup against the Bears this season.
The Wasps’ next game is scheduled for Sunday, April 27 at 12 p.m. at McCrorie Family Stadium against Lenoir-Rhyne Bears.

Emma Mazzarone struck out a career-high fourteen batters as Virginia Tech beat Virginia in softball’s ACC Quarterfinals on May 8. Timely hitting and strong defense propelled them into Friday’s semifinal against Duke.
Bree Carrico has been named an NFCA Top 10 Freshman of the Year finalist after leading Virginia Tech softball with standout performances all season. She recently received additional honors as ACC Freshman of the Year and will compete next during ACC Championship play.
