Ethan Copeland will join the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season, the program announced on May 29. Mike Young, head coach of the Hokies, confirmed that Copeland, a 6-foot-2 guard, has signed with the team after playing last season at Stetson.
Copeland averaged 15.0 points per game at Stetson and started all 33 games during the past season. He played an average of 32 minutes per contest and was recognized as a prolific shooter by making 109 three-pointers and shooting over 42% from beyond the arc. Copeland scored in double figures in 26 games and reached or exceeded the 20-point mark nine times. His highest scoring performance came in a win over Rhodes in December, where he scored a season-high 29 points by making eight out of eleven three-point attempts without committing any turnovers during his 34 minutes on court.
In addition to his scoring ability, Copeland recorded one double-double at Stetson and had nine games with five or more rebounds as well as fourteen games with multiple steals.
Before joining Stetson, Copeland played at Salt Lake Community College during the 2024-25 season. There he started in twenty out of twenty-three games played and averaged fifteen-and-a-half points per game while shooting thirty-eight percent from three-point range and forty percent overall from the floor.
