Radford women’s basketball graduate guard Ellie Taylor participated in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) “So You Want To Be a Coach” program, according to an April 4 announcement. The seminar took place in Phoenix, Arizona, from April 1 to April 3 during the WBCA Convention.
The program is designed to help women’s basketball players interested in coaching by providing professional development opportunities. It aims to teach skills needed for coaching positions, increase awareness of necessary competencies, introduce participants to current coaches and administrators, and highlight talented players who are passionate about entering the coaching profession.
Taylor was among 26 recent graduates selected for this year’s class. Eligibility requirements include having exhausted final collegiate eligibility during the past season, an interest in pursuing a coaching career, being nominated by a head coach who is a WBCA member, maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA, and demonstrating positive contributions both on and off the court.
During her time at Radford University, Taylor averaged 6.3 points per game last season and played a key role in leading her team to a first-round win in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), as well as runner-up finishes in both the Big South regular season and conference tournament. She started every game of the 2025-26 season—becoming the first Highlander to start all 36 games—and appeared in 69 games over three years with two seasons played at Radford.
Taylor is now the fourth player from Radford selected for this program during Mike McGuire’s tenure as head coach. Previous participants include Aisha Foy (2016), Destinee Walker (2019), and Adriana Shipp-Davis (2025).
Looking ahead, Radford women’s basketball encourages fans to stay updated through their social media platforms.
