Virginia Tech women’s basketball head coach Megan Duffy announced on May 11 the addition of Ke’Sha Blanton to her staff as an assistant coach. Blanton will be responsible for recruiting, scouting, and on-court player development with the Hokies.
The appointment is notable as it brings an experienced Division I coach to Virginia Tech’s program. Duffy said, “We are thrilled to welcome Ke’Sha Blanton to Blacksburg. She is an incredibly hard-worker with a passion to impact student-athletes both on and off the court. She will immediately expand our recruiting footprint and elevate our player development.”
Blanton has accumulated 15 years of coaching experience at the Division I level, including previous work under Duffy at Miami (Ohio). During her career, she has mentored 30 All-Conference selections. Most recently, she was an assistant coach at Tulane for the 2025-26 season where she also served as recruiting coordinator and NIL liaison.
Before joining Tulane, Blanton was head coach at Air Force Prep Academy during its first-ever undefeated season in 2024-25. Her earlier roles include two seasons as assistant coach at Eastern Michigan—where she later became interim head coach—and associate head coach then acting head coach at Oakland University from 2019 through the 2021-22 season.
Blanton’s background also includes stints as an assistant at Miami (Ohio) and Detroit Mercy, where she helped teams reach three postseason appearances and worked with multiple all-conference athletes. As a graduate assistant at Florida State University, she contributed to a staff that achieved a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament during a successful run in the early 2010s.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Blanton holds degrees from both the University of Toledo and Florida State University.
