Delegate Chris Obenshain, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 41st District, shared a series of posts on social media marking the start of the 2025-26 school year for students in Montgomery County.
On August 12, 2025, Obenshain posted about his family’s experience at a local event: “The boys had a great back-to-school night at our neighborhood school, @HardingAvenue Elementary! They are so excited to get started. Thanks to all the teachers and staff that have worked so hard to get things ready. Wishing everyone a fantastic 25-26 school year!”
The following day, August 13, he welcomed the broader community back to school: “Welcome back to the students, parents, teachers, and staff of Montgomery County schools! Here’s wishing everyone a happy and successful 2025-26 school year!”
Later that morning, Obenshain highlighted his personal connection as a parent: “So excited to put these two guys on the bus to school this morning. They are ready to rock Kindergarten and 2nd grade this year! #proudparent #dadlife”
Montgomery County Public Schools serve over 9,000 students across multiple elementary, middle, and high schools in southwestern Virginia. The district typically begins its academic year in mid-August.
Obenshain has served as Delegate since January 2024 and is known for engaging with local education issues and community events.
