Delegate Chris Obenshain, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing parts of Southwest Virginia, shared several updates on his social media accounts in late August 2025. His posts ranged from community celebrations to education initiatives.
On August 23, 2025, Obenshain marked the beginning of the college football season with a post stating, “Happy first day of college football to all who celebrate. Can’t wait to see our Hokies back in action next weekend!”
The following day, August 24, he reflected on a local political event: “We had a fantastic time last night at the Obenshain-Dalton dinner celebrating the past, present, and future of the Montgomery County Republican Party. Thanks to everyone who came out last night at a beautiful venue for this special event honoring the New River Valley’s great”
On August 25, Obenshain acknowledged an educational milestone in Virginia by thanking Goodwill Industries of the Valleys for their role in opening an adult high school: “Thanks to @goodwillvalleys for bringing the Excel Center to fruition. The opening of Virginia’s first adult high school presents an exciting opportunity to help lift up families across Southwest Virginia.” The Excel Center is noted as Virginia’s first public high school specifically designed for adults and aims to provide adults without a diploma an opportunity to earn one while gaining career certifications.
Obenshain has been active in regional politics and community engagement. As Delegate for parts of Southwest Virginia, he frequently highlights both local traditions—such as support for college sports—and developments impacting education and workforce readiness.
