Delegate Chris Obenshain, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, recently used his social media platform to highlight several events and developments in the state, ranging from student engagement at Virginia Tech to regional economic initiatives and public safety matters.

On September 25, 2025, Obenshain posted about attending an event at Virginia Tech with Governor Glenn Youngkin and journalist Megyn Kelly. In his tweet, he stated: “It was incredible to be at Virginia Tech tonight with Governor @GlennYoungkin, @megynkelly, and so many inspirational young conservative students from across the Commonwealth. Thanks to @TPUSA for following through on this event and to all the folks tonight who showed up, stood” (September 25, 2025).

Later that day, Obenshain addressed concerns regarding threats made against fellow legislator Kim Taylor. He wrote: “These politically motivated threats are unacceptable. I’m grateful that my friend and colleague @KimTaylor_VA is safe and law enforcement has moved quickly to identify a suspect.” (September 25, 2025).

The following morning on September 26, 2025, Obenshain shared news about economic development in southwest Virginia. He announced: “More great news for our region as the New River Valley Regional Commission will receive a grant through Go Virginia to continue building out sites for industrial development to attract new business investment and create jobs.” (September 26, 2025).

The Go Virginia initiative referenced by Obenshain is a statewide program aimed at encouraging private sector growth and job creation through incentivizing regional collaboration among business leaders, educators, and local governments.

Virginia Tech regularly hosts political figures and national commentators for student-focused events designed to encourage civic participation among young adults. TPUSA (Turning Point USA), mentioned by Obenshain in his first post, is an organization known for its outreach efforts on college campuses.

Recent incidents involving threats against elected officials have drawn attention nationwide. Swift action by law enforcement in these cases has been widely noted as essential for ensuring public safety.
