Delegate Chris Obenshain, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, shared several updates on his Twitter account at the start of August 2025. His posts covered topics ranging from the celebration of Virginia Craft Beer Month to personal reflections on family activities and commentary on the state’s fiscal performance.

On August 1, Obenshain highlighted an annual event for local businesses and residents: “August 1 is the start of Virginia Craft Beer month. As summer draws to a close it is a great time to get out and try some of the diverse selection of brews offered by our local craft brewers. Thanks to all these small businesses who make our Commonwealth a destination for lovers”.

Later that day, he posted about his family’s experience with summer swim lessons at Virginia Tech: “The two oldest boys enjoyed completing their summer swim lessons this week at @virginia_tech. I told them to give a thumbs up to show how much fun they had and they both went with TEN THUMBS UP!

Thanks to VT and their great instructors for making this available to our”.

On August 2, Obenshain addressed state finances in another tweet: “Earlier this week, it was announced that Virginia ended FY 25 with a surplus of more than $500 million.

Virginia is on strong economic footing thanks to commonsense conservative leadership that has planned foe the long term, made key investments in priorities like education, law”.

Virginia’s craft beer industry has grown significantly over recent years, contributing both economically and culturally across the state through events such as Craft Beer Month. Additionally, educational programs such as those offered by Virginia Tech provide opportunities for community engagement during summer months. The announcement regarding Virginia’s budget surplus reflects ongoing debates about fiscal policy in the state legislature as leaders attribute financial outcomes to various policy approaches.
