Delegate Chris Obenshain, a Republican representing Virginia’s 41st House district since his election in 2024, has recently posted several messages on social media addressing both historical observances and current political issues.
On February 16, 2026, Obenshain acknowledged the federal holiday for George Washington’s birthday with a tribute to the first president: “Happy George Washington’s birthday (Observed) to all who celebrate the great Virginian! ‘First in war, first in peace, first in the hearts of his countrymen.”
Two days later, on February 18, 2026, Obenshain commented on an upcoming amendment related to redistricting in Virginia. He stated: “The picture pretty aptly demonstrates that this amendment has nothing to do with fairness. It’s about politicians carving up communities in absurd configurations to reward their political allies. Vote NO on the amendment to stop gerrymandering in Virginia. Voting starts on March”.
Later that same day, he marked Ash Wednesday by quoting scripture: ‘”All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust.” Ecclesiastes 3:20 Have a blessed Ash Wednesday.’
Obenshain was elected during the 2024 cycle, succeeding Eileen Filler-Corn as delegate for Virginia’s 41st House district.
