Delegate Chris Obenshain, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, posted several messages on his social media account on September 10, 2025. The posts addressed topics ranging from sports support to condemnation of political violence and expressions of faith.
In a post at 16:35 UTC, Obenshain expressed support for Virginia Tech’s athletic teams by stating, “They dont call them the Gobblers for nothing. Go @virginia_tech! https://t.co/iwgXSqqAJO”.
Later that day, at 18:53 UTC, he commented on an incident involving Charlie Kirk by writing, “My prayers are with @charliekirk11. Political violence has no place in our society. This shameful and cowardly act must be fully prosecuted. https://t.co/6Cum1nFF9d”.
In a third post at 21:40 UTC, Obenshain shared a passage from Psalm 46:1: ‘”God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.” Psalm 46:1.’
Delegate Chris Obenshain represents parts of Southwest Virginia in the state legislature. His public statements often address local community interests such as support for Virginia Tech—whose athletic teams are known as the Hokies or “Gobblers”—as well as broader national issues including political violence and religious faith.
