Chris Obenshain, a Republican elected in 2024 to represent Virginia’s 41st House district, addressed recent developments in state politics through several posts on his Twitter account on May 8, 2026. Obenshain commented on court decisions regarding redistricting and weighed in on early voting practices.

In a post at 14:40 UTC, Obenshain wrote, “I’ve said it from day 1. The effort by Democrats to force through gerrymandering and blow up Virginia’s bipartisan process was always illegal and unconstitutional. Gratified to see SCOVA agree. Now we move on to November and a fair fight in fair districts.” The statement references the Supreme Court of Virginia (SCOVA) ruling against recent redistricting efforts that he characterizes as partisan.

Later that afternoon at 15:05 UTC, Obenshain questioned the current duration of early voting in Virginia, stating, “Can we all agree now that 45 days of early voting is preposterous and reducing it to something reasonable like 15 days will be appreciated by voters, campaigns, and registrars and won’t disenfranchise anyone?”

Obenshain also posted support for Virginia Tech sports later that evening at 23:00 UTC with the message: “Lets go, Hokies!”

Obenshain succeeded Eileen Filler-Corn as representative for the state’s 41st House district following his election in 2024.
