Virginia Tech defender Caroline Doffermyre received the Department of Political Science’s Harris Award this semester as she graduated with honors from Virginia Tech with a degree in political science – legal studies, according to a May 28 announcement.

The Harris Award is given in memory of one of the founding members of the department. It recognizes “distinguished scholarly achievement” and an “outstanding ability to conceive and execute original research in the discipline.” The award is presented to a member of the graduating class in Political Science.

Doffermyre played for the Hokies women’s lacrosse team for each of the last two seasons, making three appearances and helping her squad achieve a 19-18 record. During her junior year, she set a program record on the fitness test.

The recognition comes as Doffermyre concludes her undergraduate career at Virginia Tech, combining academic achievement with athletic contributions to her team.
