Austin Ball to Compete in 2023 Capital Classic

George Mason University men’s basketball incoming wing Austin Ball will compete in the prestigious 2023 Hoop Culture Capital Classic on April 29.

The annual high school all-star game, now in its 50th edition, will be held at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.

Ball recently wrapped up his high school career at the Miller School in Virginia, where he led the Mavericks to a VISAA state title and a VIC Championship. A two-time All-Blue Ridge Athletic Conference selection, Ball averaged 16 points and six rebounds this past season.

An all-state and all-VIC selection, Ball chose Mason over offers from West Virginia, Virginia Tech and Richmond, among others.

Since 1973, the Hoop Culture Capital Classic presented by Events DC features the top high school basketball talent from the capital region (DC, Maryland and Virginia) versus student-athletes from across the United States. The game has become a stepping stone for many collegiate All-Americans, NBA All-Stars and Basketball Hall of Fame recipients.

Throughout the years, the game has showcased notable NBA icons including Moses Malone, Magic Johnson, Dominique Wilkins, Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Grant Hill, LeBron James, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Klay Thompson.
